Starting your Wedding Plan

Hey ladies,

How are you all doing today? Good I hope? I’m having a small breakdown thanks to my garden currently looking like a mud bath but trying not to think about it too much… ugh!

Anyway, let’s talk wedding planning! So you’ve had your dream proposal (or a proposal anyway), now what do you do? Well if you’re anything like me you cry a bit, hug your new ‘Fiancé’, call everyone you know – or text them in my case, then what?

What I didn’t quite realise, and tell me if I’m wrong, is that from that point on your life becomes one huge mass of questions: ‘So when’s the wedding?’, ‘Have you set a date yet?’, ‘Why not?’, ‘What’s the rush?’, ‘Why wait?’, ‘Will it be a church?’, ‘If not, why not?’, ‘If so, which one?’, it literally does not stop!

All I wanted to do was scream ‘I DON’T BLOODY KNOW YET!!!’ Everyone assumed that because I’d wanted to be engaged for a long time, I automatically had a list of things and knew exactly what I wanted and when I wanted it, and, to be fair, I did think I knew it all pretty much. That is, until I actually started looking. That was when the real stress and sleepless-ness really started! Ugh!

Given that I’ve planned three weddings for myself (long story!) and planned dozens of weddings for other people, I think I’ve narrowed it down to the top five things to do first…

1 Decide between yourselves how many people you’d ideally want at your wedding - ceremony and reception - and given the current climate, take Covid into account just in case… :-(

2 Discuss (and agree on!) a budget… this will inevitably become flexible to a degree, but try to think of it like buying a house - you need to really know what your top budget is because - and trust me when I say this as I’ve seen it sooooo many times - you do NOT want to be paying for (and arguing about), your wedding after it’s happened. It’s honestly not the best way to start a marriage, with a huge debt hanging over your heads!

3 Find a venue that can flexibly accommodate your numbers

4 Choose your bridal party

5 Set the date, remembering to take into account any black out dates, i.e. your parents or future in-laws just happen to be in Lanzarote on your chosen date or your bestie is in Ibiza at a hen do! Eeeek! Now there’s a conversation you don’t want to have if you can avoid it haha!

But that’s just the start ladies! Keep watching for more tips and hints along the way, and remember that as always, if you have any questions at all, feel free to drop us a message and check out our socials for the most up to date gowns, offers and availability!

Love Jen xxx
